Statement of Purpose:

Hope Chapel exists to glorify God and advance His kingdom, through the preaching of the Gospel, making disciples, and preparing God's children for works of service

Our Name & Lineage: (back to top)

In 1971 Pastors Ralph & Ruby Moore started the first Hope Chapel in Manhattan Beach, California serving a congregation of 12 people. Then in August 1978, God gave Pastor Ralph a vision to raise up a new congregation in Kaneohe, Oahu Hawaii, and provided him the means to move to Hawaii in August of 1983.

In September 1983 Pastor Ralph held the first service of
Hope Chapel Kaneohe and continued to raise up church planters to send them around the world to accomplish works for the Kingdom.

In September 1987, Hope Chapel Kaneohe (Pastor Ralph) sent out their first overseas daughter church to Okinawa Japan lead by Pastor John Bacigalupo.  That same year Pastor John opened the doors to Hope Chapel Okinawa where he still faithfully serves.

In August of 1997 Pastor Mike and family arrive in Okinawa, and in January 2001 Pastor Mike, was installed as the assistant pastor of
Hope Chapel Okinawa, eventually leaving Okinawa in May of 2004 to move to Virginia to raise up Hope Chapel Fredericksburg.

A
s a granddaughter church of Hope Chapel Kaneohe, and daughter church of Hope Chapel Okinawa, Pastor Mike chose to maintain the family name and continue in the labor field of these previous church pioneers.  Currently, the Hope Chapel network of churches numbers more than 220 congregations born from that initial gathering of 12 committed people in 1971.

Pastor Mike is honored, and humbled that God would allow him the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful family.

What is "Foursquare" (back to top)

"Foursquare" is a Biblical term used of the tabernacle in the Book of Exodus, of the Temple of the Lord in Ezekiel 40:47, and of Heaven, as described in the book of the Revelation. The term "Foursquare Gospel" was given in the inspiration of revival to the denomination's founder, Aimee Semple McPherson, during an evangelistic campaign in Oakland, Calif., in 1922. It represents that which is equally balanced on all sides, established and enduring. Such confidence in the power of the Gospel is also expressed by the verse, Hebrews 13:8, displayed in Foursquare churches proclaiming, "Jesus Christ the Same, Yesterday and Today and Forever."

The name represents the four-fold ministries of Jesus:

The Savior
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisment for our peace was upon Him..." -Isaiah 53:5 (Titus 2:14, Is. 55:7, Heb. 7:25, Is. 1:18)

The Baptizer with the Holy Spirit
"For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit... you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." -Acts 1:5,8 (Jn. 14:16-17, Acts 2:4, Acts 8:17, Acts 10:44-46, 1 Cor. 3:16)

The Healer
"He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses..." -Matthew 8:17 (Mk. 16:17-18, Mt. 9:5-6, Acts 4:29-30)

The Soon-Coming King
"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout... the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." -1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (Titus 2:12-13, Mt. 24:36-44, Heb. 9:28, Lk. 19:13, Lk. 12:35-37.)

 Our Values:  (back to top)

At Hope Chapel, we value:

People - Christ's blood was shed for all.

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ was shed for all, and that salvation is for everyone who will come to God with a repenting heart and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. We believe that the true living God wants a personal relationship with all who would know and follow Him. We believe that this value will require us to reach the unchurched, to extend ourselves into the lives of those God is trying to reach.

God's personal plan for each of us - God has set each of us apart

We believe God has a plan and a purpose for each and every person, and that life itself is a gift and opportunity from God to advance His kingdom on earth. We believe that each person has talents, gifts and abilities given by God that are to be cultivated and nurtured into and for the ministry to fulfill Gods purpose for us here on earth.

Relationships - Growing in Godly relationships

We believe that our lives are strengthened by our faithful efforts to grow and improve our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through individual prayer time, private bible study and meditation, we believe God will reveal himself in ways that strengthen and encourage our individual lives and the larger body of Christ. We believe loving and honest relationships are vital to personal growth and evangelism. Discipleship through small groups, accountability and open honesty are critical to maturing in our faith. Genuine relationships with friends and family are key to winning others to Christ. Believing this, we biblically value and invest in relationships for the sake of the Kingdom of God. To protect the unity of the Spirit in our church, we refuse to give audience to a spirit of complaining or gossip; instead, we will be courageous in solving every problem in a way that honors God and builds biblical character.
